During the late 80’s,
members of Alpha Phi Omega (Phils) who
migrated to Australia were meeting
socially. Some of these members are
Trish Ureta, Mel Culibao, Rustico
Culibao, Jojo Lovero, Manolo de Lara and
Edgar Dadios.

Albert Ranoso, Peter
Vela, Edgar Dadios, Jojo Lovero,
Jonathan Mejia and Trish Ureta met at
Bronte Beach and rekindled old ties. It
was agreed at this gathering that an APO
in Australia be organised.
The other members living
in the Sydney metropolitan area, were
contacted by Albert Ranoso to have a
meeting at his place at 14/18 Ocean
Street, Clovelly, NSW to have the first
organisational meeting.
The first organisational
meeting was held and the first set of

Associations Incorporation Act, 1984 by
the Corporate Affairs Commission of New
South Wales as a non-profit
organisation.

On July 1993, Brod Dan
Umali proposed the affiliation of APO
Australia with the Scouts Association of
AustraliaThe first uniformed leaders of

Collegiate Expansion program:
The expansion program
into universities started on 1996
organised by Sis Santa Ingusan-Evenbly
(Beta 1969) with help from several other
APO Australia members including Isagani
Belista, Martin Gonzales, Jonathan
Mejia, Yolanda Gacho and Bernie Marcos.
The first recruits were mostly children
of APO members. The first batch of
recruits, SEVEN GOLDEN EAGLES.
The second batch of
recruits in 1997 was named FOUR SEASONS
and the third batch of was named THE
WARRIOR PAIR on 1998. The fourth
chapter organised was at the University
of Wollongong on 2005.
Another collegiate
chapter was organised on 2005 in the
University of Wollongong, with the
leadership of Brod Russell Familiar,
assisted by Sis Jojie Familiar, Fermin
Cordero, Irene de Castro-Patterson,
Eileen Inagaki (Alpha Alpha Xi) and
Cherylene Lee (Alpha Epsilon Zeta) both
from APO USA who were residents of the
University of Wollongong. Many members
of APO Australia participated in their
Omega Day (individual names not
mentioned here as there were too many to
list - photos of attendees on file).

festival was held, chaired by Brod Atoy
Sayas.

Honorary membership was
given to Daisy Mejia, Nelia Sumcad and
Pids Catabay. Nelia and Pids were scout
leaders and Daisy was the
longest-serving chairman of the Layside
Committee.

- APO Australia Alumni Association
charter was approved during the 1997
Biennial Convention in Baguio City. The
charter members are Jimmy Ahillon, Shane
Almonte, Bienvenido Barroga, Santa
Ingusan, Francisco Medina Jr, Isagani
